Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Dolby is my homage to Vaughan Williams’ gorgeous Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis. My work is inspired by Dolby’s iconic She Blinded Me With Science, music that has influenced me in more ways that I had realized. And yes, I did march through the streets of Pittsford, New York as a junior-high-school-trombonist to an arrangement of that song that I still remember with unusual clarity.
